Social Media & Sports Examples




Sports and social media marriage brings plethora of opportunities for marketers and sponsors. Social media is already changing the way we catch up on sports or interact with our favourite sports personalities.

These 2 examples do amplify how social media & marketing can blend together.

Radian6, Mullen & BrandBowl2010

Brandbowl2010 is created in partnership with Radian6 & Mullen. The site captures and integrates various tweets that are made by users by fans on brands and ads around Super Bowl. The tweets with #brandbowl” will be captured.

The site has 2 sections. The main section will feature the 10 most popular brands. The ranking is based in a score card that is developed using volume of tweets and sentiments. The second section of the site “Locker” will have the other brands. Only tweets with the #brandbowl” will be used to calculate the score.



Sony Ericcsson & Twitter Cup

Twitter Cup captures the tweets that are sent by users in support of their teams in the world cup. The users have to tweet the name of the team that they support and the word ” World Cup” together i.e. France World Cup . You could also tweet “France World Cup #twc”.

For each tweet sent for a team, a seat gets filled in an interactive stadium. The team with maxim supports wins the Twitter Cup.
